Communication and language

28-07-2022

In the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Communication and language development is a fundamental area of learning. This foundation supports young children in building essential skills for expressing themselves, understanding others, and engaging with the world around them.

Key Aspects of Communication and language in the EYFS:

  1. Listening and Attention: Children learn to listen carefully to others, respond to instructions, and engage in conversation, fostering their ability to process and interpret language
  2. Understanding: Through activities and interactions, children develop their comprehension skills, learning to understand a range of vocabulary and concepts in both familiar and new contexts.
  3. Speaking: Young children practice speaking clearly and confidently. This includes expanding their vocabulary, using language to express needs and feelings, and developing their ability to use full sentences.

Here at Fairyland, we encourage children to communicate effectively in social settings, such as through role play, group activities, and peer conversations, helping children build their confidence in interacting with others

We have created a stimulating environment that promotes language development through storytelling, reading books, singing songs, and daily interactions with adults and peers.

Supporting communication and language is crucial for a child's overall development. It lays the groundwork for future learning, academic achievement, and social interactions.
