Caterpillar room (children from 4 months to 18 months)
Learning goal 1.
Children are developing a strong sense of self and well-being
Children will demonstrate this by
- Feeling safe and secure at fairyland
- Develop their emerging autonomy – ‘All about me’
- Beginning to develop an understanding of emotions and feelings
- Beginning to interact/ show interest in others
Learning goal 2.
Children are developing their independence and self-help skills.
Children will demonstrate this by
- Helping to take off/put on shoes & coats
- Developing their independence in feeding themselves/ exploring and gaining more control using cutlery (coordination in using cutlery at meal times)
- Beginning to communicate their soiled/wet nappy
Learning goal 3.
Children are effective communicators.
Children will demonstrate this by
- Using two or more words when communicating
- Can sing key words in favourite nursery rhymes and follow actions
- Can understand and follow one-step instructions.
Cocoon room ( children 18 months – 3years)

- Feeling secure at fairyland, forming meaningful bonds with peers and carers
- Develop their emerging autonomy –all about me, extending to understand their family
- Make decisions in their own learning
- Identify their feeling and emotions
- Form friendships and play alongside others
Learning goal 2.
Children are developing their independence and self-help skills.
Children will demonstrate this by
- Becoming more independent in dressing & undressing, put on shoes & coats etc
- Independently eat using cutlery at mealtimes. Drink from an open cup.
- Can communicate their soiled/wet nappy/ beginning to gain more bladder and bowel control.
- Understand good hygiene routines.
Learning goal 3.
Children are effective communicators.
Children will demonstrate this by
- Can communicate clearly their needs, wants and interests
- Have an interest in and can recall a range of familiar stories and rhymes
- Have a good understanding and follow simple instructions
- Can ask for help
- Recognise the letters of their name and start to form letter shapes.

Children have an understanding of and are connected to the world around them.
Children will demonstrate this by
- Knowing about their local community
- Can share and take turns
- Respect their environment, plants/animals
- Show enthusiasm to celebrate different festivals and cultures
- Starting to be aware of road safety and outdoor risks.
